A table perfectly set for a snowman's luncheon! We had about a half a foot of snow last weekend, but there is not much left of it now. We had high winds and warm temperatures...but I glanced at the mountains a few minutes ago and saw snow clouds moving in...
I had occasion to spend some time over the holidays with a couple that I knew years ago when they were dating. Happily married now...I was shocked at the way that they talked to each other. Not that they were mean to each other or yelled or anything, but their speech, their tone...was sort of scathing and disrespectful. Maybe it was more apparent to me because I remember the way that they USED to talk to each other.
So I started listening to the way that my husband spoke to me, and the way that I answered back. And I didn't like what I was speaking/hearing. It came to me that speech, and tone of speech, can set the tone of the day, the matter at hand, the family...and the marriage. In other words, the way that we talk to each other is a BIG DEAL.
I started looking up Bible verses dealing with the tongue, and God had a lot to say about the way that we speak to each other. On my next couple of blogs, I am going to share what I found out! But today, let me leave you with this...
"Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." (Colossians 4:6)
Can you say that your speech is always with grace, and seasoned with salt? Me neither, far from it. So let's explore together on Saturday some of what God's Word has to say on the matter...DLB
